Top Tips For Eye Care Employers Posting A Job

Welcome to jobs4ecps. We started this jobsite in 2011 and have been connecting to Canadian eye care employers and job seekers ever since. We wanted to create a portal that any sector of the industry could post a job and find qualified candidates and where a job seeker could find all of the online advertised available jobs for their particular skills/ position. Well this is it...jobs4ecps.

Now that your here and ready to post a job, let's give you a few quick tips to ensure you get the best success with your job posting.

Top 10 Tips For Posting An Eye Care Job!

1. Title is important....not just for easy clarification to the job seeker but for internet searchability. Keep it simple...don't get fancy. Example: Optician or Optical Dispenser Needed ASAP.

2. Tell your story. Candidates want to hear a bit about the place and the people where they would be working. Example: We are a fast growing Optometry practice that works hard but plays hard too!

3. Talk about what makes you different. Similar to above, you want to boast as to why your eye care business is the one they want to work in. Example: We have the latest in technological advancements in eye care and eye health. We offer all of our patients an Optomap retinal exam and an OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) exam.

4. What's in it for me! Take the time to list every benefit of working at your office that you can think of. The more the merrier. Example: We offer full medical & dental benefits, only one night shift per week, closed on long weekends, one free pair of eyeglasses or contact lenses a year, license fees paid, education reimbursement, team retreats and conferences.

5. Think about your target audience. Who is your most likely candidate for open positions. If we go by statistics it is the millennial female that will take up most of the open eye care positions in Canada so write your job posting with them in mind. What's important to the millennial female; work-life balance, flexibility, office culture and growth opportunities.

6. Mention compensation. It is still one of the motivators for a candidate to apply to the job posting. You don't have to be the highest but you need to be competitive. Example: We offer competitive compensation including 3 weeks paid vacation, monthly team bonuses and annual cost of living and performance raises.

7. Give me incentives. If your job posting is a tricky one like a very rural location that's hard to attract candidates get creative and add in incentives. Example: We offer a $1000 signing bonus and moving expenses.

8. Make it easy to apply. List your email address and don't make a candidate jump through hoops or you just won't get the same amount of responses.

9. Post it here! You want to get as many candidates as possible so you have a great pool to choose from. That means posting your job in the places that will get to the people searching in this industry. That's us. Candidates are searching the internet so make sure your job is also showing up.

10. Use other resources you have like your social media. Once you have posted the job share it via your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Last note: Employees are your most important asset. We often recruit reactively, someone gives notice so we start recruiting. Always be recruiting. Always be on the look out and ready to recruit when needed. Happy recruiting.
