5 Things Every Job Posting Needs

Writing a good job posting is an art. Writing one with a strategy in mind is a science.

Here are 5 things every job posting needs:

1. Proper Title

If you want qualified eye care candidates use the proper title. Like Licensed Optician not Optical Dispenser. Or Certified Optometric Assistant (COA). The other reason to use proper titles is searchability. Candidates are searching those specific titles.

2. Introduction

Introduce your optical business or optometry practice and tell a bit of a story. Candidates are looking for a great place to work. You need to "sell" your place of work to get more candidates applying.

3. Qualifications & Requirements

Be specific if you want specific results. List exact experience, skill set and education is required for the role. If your will to train put that as well. It will open up the candidate pool but that's not a bad thing.

4. Multiple Keywords

In the world of Google keywords are king. It helps the job posting show up on the internet search. For example, if your looking for an Optician but would be open to all related eye care experience put the following: Licensed Optician preferred but will consider all relevant eye care related experience such as Optical, Ophthalmic, Optometric Assistant, Frame Stylist, etc. You have now listed multiple keywords.

5. Benefits & FUN

I can never stress this enough. What's in it for them. What do you offer that is unique like vacation, conferences, training, education and growth opportunities. Fun culture and environment. No weekends or nights. Anything and everything you can think of that is a perk or benefit of the job and makes it a great place to work.

Last note...write a job posting you would apply to.
