About the Role
As an Optometric Assistant / Receptionist, you'll be one of the first points of contact for our patients and families while helping keep the clinic running smoothly.
What You'll Do
- Welcome patients and families and manage the check-in/check-out process.
- Coordinate recurring Vision Therapy appointments, assessments, and progress evaluations.
- Answer phone calls, emails, texts, and faxes professionally and confidentially.
- Maintain accurate electronic patient records and documentation.
- Collect session fees, provide receipts, and assist with daily payment reconciliation.
- Perform optometric pre-testing before initial assessments with the Doctor.
- Assist with referrals and communication with other healthcare providers.
- Manage insurance authorizations, claims, and patient files, including motor vehicle accident cases.
- Communicate with insurance providers regarding approvals and patient coverage.
- Educate new patients on the difference between standard eye exams and Vision Therapy.
- Follow up with patients regarding missed appointments and ongoing treatment.
- Assist with eyewear and lens orders within our small optical gallery.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinic environment.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Optometric Assistant or Office Administration training is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in healthcare, optometry, Vision Therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or customer service is preferred.
- Knowledge of eye care terminology and procedures is an asset.
- Strong computer and administrative skills.

Schedule
- 8-hour shifts.
- Tuesday to Saturday availability.
