Patient Service Associate

Valley Family Optometry is expanding our team and is seeking a full-time Patient Service Associate to serve as one of the friendly, welcoming front faces of our clinic. This role is ideal for someone who loves working with people, enjoys a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in creating a positive first impression. This position may involve working at both our Kingston and New Minas locations therefore applicant must be willing to work at either location and have reliable transportation to attend either clinic.

Job Description

The Patient Service Associate is a key front-facing member of our clinic team. This role combines patient service, front desk responsibilities, clinical pre-testing, and basic optical support. The Patient Service Associate is often the first point of contact for patients and plays an essential role in ensuring a welcoming, efficient, and positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Greeting patients warmly in person and on the phone

• Answering a high volume of calls and scheduling appointments

• Maintaining accurate electronic patient records

• Performing pre-exam automated testing

• Supporting patient flow throughout the clinic

• Processing third-party billing and financial transactions

• Assisting patients with frame selection, lens options, and minor adjustments

• Troubleshooting patient questions or concerns

Comprehensive on-site training and cross-training across departments will be provided.

Qualifications

• Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy clinic environment

• Attention to detail and a positive, solutions-focused attitude

• Previous optometry or customer service experience is an asset, but not required

• Willingness to learn; training will be provided for the right candidate
