Optometric Assistant

Our established optometry practice is looking for two full-time Optometric Assistants to join our team. While this position will primarily support our front desk and patient pre-testing, you'll also have the opportunity to learn other areas of the clinic, including optical dispensing, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in eye care.

For close to 40 years, we have proudly cared for the Orangeville community and have grown to become one of the largest dispensing practices in the Dufferin area. What You'll Do

Your day may include:

  • Greeting patients and creating a welcoming first impression.
  • Checking patients in and scheduling appointments.
  • Answering incoming phone calls and assisting with patient inquiries.
  • Performing pre-testing and specialty diagnostic testing before patients see the optometrist.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and supporting the day-to-day operation of the clinic.
  • Working collaboratively with our doctors, team leads, and fellow team members to provide outstanding patient care.
  • Supporting optical dispensing by assisting with eyewear, adjustments, and repairs as needed.
  • Has previous experience in customer service, reception, front desk, or administrative support.
  • Enjoys interacting with people and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Is friendly, approachable, and professional.
  • Has strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Works well in a team environment while taking initiative independently.
  • Is eager to learn new skills and grow within the practice.
  • Competitive starting wage of $19.50/hour

While your primary focus will be front desk and pre-testing, all Optometric Assistants are cross-trained and may assist in other areas of the clinic as needed.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

Experience in an optometry or healthcare setting is an asset but not required. We provide comprehensive training for the right candidate.

Schedule

This is a full-time position.

Our clinic is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Team members work staggered shifts (for example, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, or 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) to support clinic operations.

We are also open every other Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with Saturday shifts shared fairly among the team.
