St. Lawrence Optometry is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Optical Assistant to support our optical laboratory and patient care team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure patients receive high-quality eyewear while still having opportunities to interact with patients and support clinic operations.

Whether you have previous optical experience or are a recent Optician graduate looking to develop your technical skills, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role

As a Lab-Focused Optical Assistant, you will play an important role in the ordering, processing, inspection, and delivery of eyewear. You will work closely with our doctors, optical team, and laboratories to ensure every patient receives accurate, high-quality eyewear and exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and manage eyewear orders using VisualEyes software
  • Verify prescriptions and ensure order accuracy
  • Receive, inspect, and quality-check lenses and completed eyewear
  • Perform frame adjustments, repairs, and fittings
  • Assist with inventory management and frame organization
  • Coordinate with optical laboratories regarding orders, remakes, and timelines
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Support patients with eyewear pickups and basic optical education
  • Assist with contact lens-related tasks as required
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional optical environment
  • Support front desk and patient care operations as needed

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an optical, retail, or healthcare setting is preferred but willing to train the right candidate
  • Knowledge of optical dispensing and lens products is considered an asset
  • Experience with VisualEyes software is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Comfortable learning technical optical processes and procedures
  • New Optician graduates are encouraged to apply
