We are actively looking for an Optician/Optometric Assistant to join our Visual Sense Eye Care team on a full-time basis five days per week to accommodate our rapidly growing practice. The anticipated start date for this position is immediately.

We are an independent, family-focused Optometry office passionate about providing comprehensive eye care to individuals of all ages, with an emphasis on Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation, concussion, pediatrics and low vision. Our extensive optical with fashion eyewear, contact lenses, and low vision devices supports our visual needs of our patients.
We are looking for a friendly, articulate, and enthusiastic Optician/Optometric Assistant who takes initiative and loves to learn and take on new challenges as part of our team. Our Optician/Optometric Assistant is the main contact for patients in selecting the best eyewear strategies for their various lifestyles and visual needs.

Responsibilities Include:
- Provide exceptional patient-centered care and a positive customer experience.
- Assist with selection of frames to suit the aesthetic, performance and visual needs of our patients, including describing the features and benefits of products in a way that customers will understand.
- Perform measurements, repairs and adjustments to patients’ eyewear.
- Order, verify, and dispense eyewear.
- Maintain the inventory of frames, contact lenses, and lenses, and keep current with newest technology and lens designs.
- Provide guidance and teaching to patients regarding their Contact Lenses.
- Cross-train to assist in other duties such as auto refraction and visual fields testing when needed.
- Views the customer as extremely important and strives to ensure they have a positive experience
- Is a great communicator in the English language, and is able to use diplomacy in dealing with a variety of individuals, is adaptable, approachable and willing to learn
- Is able to multi-task, using time management, organizational and problem-solving skills to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office
- Must be available during our weekly office hours.
Skills Required:
- Views the customer as extremely important and strives to ensure they have a positive experience
- A minimum of one year of experience in the optical field or recently graduated from an Optician program is required
- Optician License/Optometric Assistant Certificate is preferred
- Has great communication skills in the English language, and is able to use diplomacy in dealing with a variety of individuals, is adaptable, approachable and willing to learn
- Is able to multi-task, using time management, organizational and problem-solving skills to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent computer and internet skills, including Microsoft Office
- Must be able to work in Canada immediately
- Clinic-specific training will be provided
Our weekly office hours are:
- Tuesdays 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
- Wednesdays 11:00 am – 7:30 pm
- Thursdays 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
- Fridays 9:00 am -5:00 pm
- Saturday 9:00 am -3:00 pm
